We are delighted to share with you that Melanie will once again be hosting, a live, in-person, 4-day retreat for QEC practitioners in May 2025!

Bore Place, Kent, UK

Once again we have booked the stunning 500 year old house called Bore Place, on 500 acres of Kent farm and woodland in Southern England that this year hosted the most incredible, transformative retreat ever held by Melanie.

“How can I not be tempted to hold another Gestalt-QEC retreat? I myself was transformed and filled with amazing creative energy on my return, which has inspired me to run the 2025 retreat on the theme of Permission to be Creative.” - Melanie

2024 Retreat at Bore Place

John Cleese explains, in his book on “Creativity”:

Creativity comes from the unconscious and to release it, we need to have a protected space, free of all interruptions from the outside world… which allows creativity within us, its natural emergence”

This sacred protected space is created on a retreat in beautiful surroundings, steeped in nature and held within a trustworthy group. The Gestalt-QEC group process work organically unfolds with participants doing inner work on themselves and between each other in a way that heals blocks and resistances to connection and to creativity. Gestalt group work includes experimentation using dreams and empty chair work, extending awareness-raising to a whole new level.

Jospeh Zinker, in his book “Creative Process in Gestalt Therapy” says:

Creativity is a celebration of one's grandeur, one's sense of making anything possible…. A statement that says, I love life, I love me, I can be anything and I can do anything!”

"Creativity is a celebration of one's grandeur, one's sense of making anything possible…. a statement that says, I love life, I love me, I can be anything and I can do anything!"

Most will say “I've done all my work!” And that's certainly true. But how many of us had our creativity stifled or buried under the weight of survival, during a childhood filled with trauma. Creativity cannot flourish under such conditions, and even if we knew we had a talent from something, perhaps excited by art or singing, or dancing, we may have relegated this passion to the dark spaces within, to conform to what others wanted for us.

Gestalt-QEC work can help us look at removing resistances and blocks, the fear or the shame that perhaps we “aren't good at it”- or “don't know where to begin”

Everyone is pregnant with creative projections, yet fearful of the frightening delight of fully expressing them…..making music, sculpture, pictures or creating change in the life of another, or oneself…..is taking the risk of releasing ones self, ones heart, ones soul, into the world.” - Zinker

Do come and join us and take the risk to find out what you have inside that yearns to be released! Or perhaps come you would like to learn how to support the emergence and growth of human creativity in others.

Join us around the fire in the dancing light of a springtime evening and feel what it's like to be freed up for a while.
