Programme
Part One, Weekend One
Gestalt will be taught through lectures and live demos, experiential work in triads supervised by Melanie.
Lawrence will be our host for making vegetarian lunches and providing teas and coffees.
These three days will cover Gestalt Fundamentals:
- Phenomenology and the power of observation
- Awareness raising, key to growth & development
- Field theory- seeing the individual wholly and in context
- The Sacred I-Thou Relationship as container for healing
- The cycle of Healthy Self-Regulation
- Contact and withdrawal, figure and ground
Lectures Online
The first 5 sessions are online with Melanie on alternate weeks (see dates), and cover interruptions to contact & flow in the Gestalt healthy cycle of experience.
We will look at how QEC can work with and remove interruptions at each of stage in the cycle:
Session one: Sensation and Awareness
Session two: Mobilisation
Session three: Action
Session four: Contact
Session five: Satisfaction and withdrawal
Practicums
Practicums will be held online in your triads every other week and will explore what was learned in lectures. These will be recorded and share with Melanie when invited to do so. Melanie will sit in every fourth practicum.
Two-month break (mostly) December- January
Part Two, Weekend Two

These three days will cover Gestalt experiment in expanding growth and awareness.
- Grading and pacing
- Challenge versus support
- Empty chair and two chair dialogue
- Dream work
- Polarities and conflict resolution
Lectures Online
The final 5 sessions are online with Melanie on alternate weeks (see dates) and cover practical application of Gestalt therapy and integration with QEC work in specific areas.
Session one: Working with a client: assessment, treatment and structure. 8-10 sessions of Gestalt-QEC is required with a case study to certify
Session two: Resourcing a client
Session three: Working with Anxiety and Depression
Session four: Working with Shame
Session five: Working with Trauma; final session and goodbye
Practicums
Practicums will be held online in your triads every other week and will explore what was learned in lectures. These will be recorded and share with Melanie when invited to do so. Melanie will sit in every fourth practicum.
Certification will be done in May 2025 on satisfactory completion of case study and having attended all lecture sessions and practicums
